What You Need To Start Driving Lessons.

You must be 17 years of age to go on the road

You will need a British provisional licence.

Pass the eyesight test.

You should be able to read an old style number plate from a distance of 20.5 metres.

You should be able to read a new style number plate from a distance of 20 metres.

Alternatively, you must complete application form D1 available from the Post Office, enclose the appropriate fee and also enclose original documentation confirming your identity, a passport-type size colour photograph taken against a plain light background.
Send your completed application etc to DVLA, Swansea, SA99 1AD or you may be able to use the Post office checking service.
